Welcome to Teachers Infusing Technology!

p
We are a group of masters candidates pursuing an education degree on integrating technology into the classroom at Walden University. Our goal is to be able to fluently integrate technology into each of our classrooms by the time we finish. This wiki looks at infusing technology with problem-based learning, collaboration, and digital storytelling. On each of our pages, you will find 3 lesson plans formatted to the GAME template. Each of us teaches various grade levels, and each one of us have selected various content areas in which to execute our lessons. Meet each of us below, or use the navigation pane on the left to check out our unit plans.

Kristi Carlson

My name is Kristi Carlson and I am a 4th grade teacher at Black Diamond Elementary School. Black Diamond is a small rural community about 30 minutes southeast of Seattle, WA. I'm fortunate this year to have a SMARTboard in my classroom along with 5 student computers. I've enjoyed coming up with new lessons and modifying old lessons to incorporate technology.

Lisa Ackley

P
My name is Lisa Ackley and I teach third grade in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, which is a city of about 15,000 people northeast of Madison about forty miles. The struggle to access technology that works has been all too familiar this year, as our district infostructure gets a massive overhaul. I am excited to learn and explore new teaching strategies that utilize technology from everyone!

Mariza Carbone

p
My name is Mariza Carbone and I teach eighth grade Spanish in Orange, CT. Although some may believe middle school students are tough to teach, I enjoy this age. Technology has been an ally as I guide students through learning my native language. I look forward to finding new ways to utilize digital tools already available to me and finding new tools for my students to try as they become proficient in Spanish.

Dawn Davis

p
My name is Dawn Davis and I teach 2nd/3rd grade in Noatak, Alaska. Noatak is a village of about 450 people. The village is located 60 miles north of the Arctic Circle, near the west coast. We are also fortunate to have a smartboard in our classroom. I am just beginning to incorporate lessons onto the board. I am always looking for new and exciting lessons for the kids to manipulate on the smartboard. I'll accept any ideas from anyone!!

Evelia Benoit

In my classroom, I have 3 student computers, a SMART board, a SMART document camera, and 2 Nook Colors. I also recently bought myself a LiveScribe pen, and am going to be looking for ways to use that in my teaching. I love finding new ways to use technology and push my students into 21st century learning.

Ellen Campbell

p
My name is Ellen Campbell and I teach 2nd grade in Ruther Glen, VA. I taught for 10 years in Fredericksburg, VA and now, I am teaching at a small, private school that serves Pre-K through 12th grade. Richard Asmondy

p
My name is Richard Asmondy and I am a high school math teacher in northwestern Pennsylvania. I have been teaching for fourteen years and have taught most any topic in math. At the current time I am teaching geometry and computer programming. I enjoy, when I can, using technology in the classroom and I am always looking for new ideas to use in the classroom.

Sarah Bernhofer

p
My name is Sarah Bernhofer, and I teach 8th grade English in Ellicott City, Maryland. Though this is my fifth year teaching, it is my first year in the Howard County Public School district. My last four years were spent as a seventh-grade teacher in a school with many more disadvantaged children than the one in which I currently work. I'm really interested in project and problem-based learning with technology- I've seen so many engaged students when working on those types of projects. It's priceless!

John Edmonds

p
My name is John Edmonds, and I am high school math teacher in Columbus, OH. I have been teaching math for 5 years, but this is my first year as a high school math teacher. Previously I was a middle school math teacher. This year I have three new preps, which are Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. I am trying to find a way to effectively use a wiki or Twitter in my classroom to help my students communicate with me and each other to find help.

Stephen Gross
My name is Stephen Gross, and I am a high school physical education/health teacher in Bridgewater, NJ. I have teaching for 11 years, this is my 6th year in teaching high school. My first 5 years teaching were in a middle school. The idea of using technology in the classroom is something I would like to encorporate more into my lessons. The idea of introducing technology into physical education is a real challenge and I'm looking forward to any suggestions or ideas that this learning community can add in my search.
